In the Midst of Struggle, Together We Stand

Together We Stand

These past weeks have brought more than our fair share of hardship, but they've also reminded me why Breaking Barrs exists: to stand alongside others when life feels unbearable, to offer strength and support when it seems like there’s no way out.

Our journey has been long and painful, marked by profound loss. We've faced unexpected struggles, and through the weight of grief, our team has been tested in ways we never imagined. Recently, the state intervened, taking Tina's and Stacey’s children into custody. An already fractured family has now been further disrupted by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Investigations are underway to assess the safety and well-being of the children, but the surrounding circumstances often go unconsidered. The process—from emergency hearings to appeals—has been filled with heartache and uncertainty, as Stacey and Tina fight not only for their families but for their peace of mind.

Instead of grieving the loss of a son, Stacey is now battling for the future of her children. At the same time, Tina has undergone yet another surgery to address a life-threatening condition, with no easy path ahead.

But through it all, I’ve watched our team rise. We continue to fight for the people we serve, even when life seems determined to knock us down.

I share this with you not to seek sympathy, but for understanding. This is the reality of building something bigger than ourselves. It’s the reality of a mission that calls us to do more, to be more—even when it feels like we can't keep going. But we do. And we will.

In the weeks ahead, we’ll keep fighting for each other. No matter how dark the days may seem, we know that together, we rise. Together, we heal. Together, we break the barrs.
